UPDATE

It has been a long time since I posted here. A lot has happened since but we are still here ready to welcome the first person walking up with money in hand. We have lowered the price to $800,000 and would like to be out of here by the end of August. There are perhaps half a dozen people expressing interest in buying the property but so far no one making the move.

To reiterate, we are selling the main property of 84 beautiful acres for $800,000 as is including the large three-bedroom house, the small two-bedroom, the 80′x100′ pole barn, the horse barn, and the historic old barn/clubhouse. Furnishings are not included, any equipment left unsold is negotiable, and we also have three lots for sale in the lakeshore subdivision which are unbuildable but have private beach access.

This is now the second year the golf course has been closed and I have stopped mowing altogether due to the severe drought. The greens are turning brown and it would take quite a bit to bring the course back into playable condition, tho not impossible. Quite frankly I am greatly relieved to no longer be mowing what little I was still maintaining earlier in the season.

Last year the rain kept me struggling to keep up with the mowing all summer long. This summer may be the hottest, driest since 1988, the year before I came back here this last time. The creek has gone underground, the general aspect of the view is brown altho there are still patches of green holding on. I’ve been walking the doggies early in the morning to beat the heat and hunkering down for most of the day. I guess it all balances out.
